Listen: Fracking firm urged to file financial accounts

Opponents of fracking in Ryedale have called on the company behind the scheme to file its financial accounts for the year.

Third Energy wants to extract shale gas at Kirby Misperton.

The company is almost three months late in lodging its financial statements for the year.

It has, on two previous occasions, filed so late that it's been warned it could be struck off and dissolved.

Third Energy say the accounts are being prepared.

But that doesn't pacify anti-fracking Ryedale District Councillor Mike Potter:

Fracking is the process of drilling down into the earth before a high-pressure liquid mixture is directed at rock to release the gas inside.

Opponents say it can cause water contamination, earthquakes and vehicles going to and from the site could lead to noise and traffic pollution.

Third Energy maintain the process of extracting shale gas is safe.
