Statue damage has been 'reported to the police'

Here's what Leicester City Council has had to say about the damage to the Richard III statue.

“We became aware of the damage to the Richard III statue last week," a spokesperson said. 

“The joint at the hilt of the sword has been bent but we not yet sure of the full extent of the damage.

“A detailed survey will be carried out later this week.

“We are investigating CCTV in the area and the matter has now been reported to the police.”

Extra staffing to man call centres during strike

For the first time junior doctors will withdraw from emergency cover tomorrow, leaving consultants to make sure patients stay safe. 

Call centres across the East MIdlands will be urging people to only use A and E where essential.

In his acceptance speech, Mahrez dedicated his award to his team mates.
