Police name woman killed in city crash

Haywood accused had 'incensed and fierce argument'

The barrister for Luke Harlow's co-accused, Stephen Beadman (pictured left), has been cross examining Mr Harlow about what happened when Kayleigh Haywood stayed at his flat in George Avenue, Ibstock.

Anthony Metzer QC, suggested there had been a fight between the two men lasting 30 to 40 minutes and that Kayleigh had run from the property.

Mr Metzer said Mr Beadman was “incensed and there was a fierce argument.”

Mr Metzer said: “That woke Kayleigh up and she asked why you were arguing and Mr Beadman told her that was because Kayleigh was 15 and you, Mr Harlow were trying to sleep with her. If you did that it would be a form of rape.”

Mr Harlow replied: “That never happened.”

At the Kayleigh Haywood trial, Luke Harlow has been in the witness stand to answer questions from his own defence barrister Gary Bell, QC.

Asked how he felt contacting under-age girls in a way that was not “appropriate,” the 28-year-old said he felt “ashamed.”

Mr Bell said some of the messages had mentioned kidnapping. Mr Harlow said: “I was just joking around, really.”

Ex-Foxes bowler heads to Norway

Former Leicestershire and Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif is playing club cricket in Norway as he continues to rebuild his career following a five-year spot-fixing ban.

The 33-year-old was exiled for five years from cricket after he bowled deliberate no-balls in Pakistan's Test against England at Lord's in 2010.

Asif has joined the Christiania Cricket Club in Oslo to work on his fitness.

Accused 'didn't know where Kayleigh was'

Luke Harlow told the jury Kayleigh Haywood had been drunk and was asleep on his sofa the last time he saw her in his flat at George Avenue in Ibstock on a Saturday in November last year, while he was drinking there with his neighbour Stephen Beadman.  

After he woke up on the Sunday morning Mr Harlow said he could not find Kayleigh. 

He said he went next door to ask Mr Beadman, but he said didn't know where she was. 

Stephen Beadman admits raping and murdering Kayleigh Haywood. He also denies falsely imprisoning her. The trial continues.

Haywood accused 'feeling ashamed'

A man who admits grooming the murdered Leicestershire schoolgirl Kayleigh Haywood online has taken to the witness stand to give evidence in his defence as he denies falsely imprisoning her.

Luke Harlow, 28, who also admits indecency charges against Kayleigh Haywood, 15, told the jury at Nottingham Crown Court that he felt ashamed.

He said: "I am just feeling ashamed, feeling bad about it. I wish I had never done it."
