Stopping heart surgery 'would be catastrophic'

Amy Woodfield

BBC Local Live

"I will be asking the Health and Wellbeing Board to explore what the wider implications would be for children’s medicine and health services at Leicester’s hospitals should children’s heart surgery be closed down. This is a concern of major strategic importance and one that NHS England must fully understand. The implications for children’s medicine in Leicester should children’s heart surgery end at Glenfield would be catastrophic.”

NHS to give 'broader context' to Glenfield decision

Amy Woodfield

BBC Local Live

"Given the widespread public interest and concern about the future of children’s heart surgery at Glenfield it is important and appropriate NHS England set out their position in public and hear what local representatives have to say. The campaign to keep children’s heart surgery at Glenfield has my full support and whilst retaining those services is of paramount importance the broader context and implications of NHS England’s proposal is also crucial."

The boss of EMAS says it was lovey to receive the letter...

"We do often receive hoax calls and it’s not always clear that the call isn’t genuine until our ambulance crew arrive on scene so it’s really important that parents spend time explaining to their children when to call 999. This child has clearly realised their mistake and has listed three great reasons as to why they won’t call again unless it’s an emergency. I particularly like the third reason.”

What you told us about switching

Amy Woodfield

BBC Local Live

So what did you in Leicester have to say about swapping bank accounts?

One man said: "I've been with the same bank since I was married so that's 24 years. I'm happy with who I'm with I've never had any problems with them."

However someone else we spoke to admitted she probably could save some money by switching: "I've not swapped my account for about 14-15 years. I pay charges for being overdrawn other than that I don't get any charges. It probably would benefit me if I did look around and swap it but it's having the time and the knowledge."
