Could this be about to change?

Scientists in the chemistry department at the University of Leicester have come up with a sat nav they're hoping will stop it happening.

Professor Paul Monks said it takes into account the height, weight and shape of the lorry and can also direct drivers to petrol stations with lorry facilities and places to park.

This product could soon be for sale - the university is in the middle of negotiations to commercialise it.

HS2 claim railway will 'create' thousands of local jobs

Amy Woodfield

BBC Local Live

An HS2 spokesperson has responded to the report by Steve Leary from the MAPA HS2 action group...

“HS2 represents a once in a lifetime chance to rebalance the national economy. It will transform travel in this country, connecting eight of the 10 largest cities in the UK, as well as improving capacity for consumers and productivity for the economy. And for the East Midlands, independent research suggests HS2 will support the creation of 74,000 jobs and add £4bn to the regional economy. We welcome all responses to the consultation and encourage as many people as possible to have their say before the closing date on 9 March.”
