Nick Glynn, who spent 30 years with the force, believes as the number of officers with taser training increases, the greater the scrutiny should be.

Man fined for wearing military uniform without permission

Gavin Bevis

BBC Local Live

A Derby man has been fined £500 after pleading guilty to wearing a military uniform without permission while fundraising.

Christopher Webster, 43, donned the outfit in Staffordshire while asking the public for donations for Shoebox for Heroes, a non-charity organisation that sent packages to troops serving abroad.

British troops in Afghanistan

Mr Webster, of Sunny Grove in Chaddesden, pleaded guilty to contravening section 2 of the Uniforms Act 1894, which puts restrictions on who can wear military uniform.

He told magistrates he had not meant to upset anyone by wearing the outfit and had done so "to show his respect for fallen heroes".

The district judge said: "I have a very uneasy feeling about [Webster's] activities and about the way that this organisation has been set up."
