Police warn speeding drivers to stay off this straight and narrow

Drivers who are treating a former wartime airfield in Lincolnshire as a "race track" are being warned action will be taken against them. 

Lincolnshire Police says it's stepping up patrols at the former RAF Metheringham, south of Lincoln.

Community shock at mum and daughter's death

Spalding is still in shock this evening over the death of Elizabeth Edwards and her daughter Katie, 13.

They were found at their house in Dawson Avenue, Spalding on Friday lunchtime. 

Two teenagers have been remanded into secure accommodation after appearing in crown court charged with their murder.

I've been outside the St Paul's Primary School where Ms Edwards was a dinner lady as parents picked up their children.

One woman tearfully described her as a "lovely person" and said "her daughter was lovely too". 

Traffic and travel across Lincolnshire: A46 roadworks

There's slow traffic on the A46 in Thorpe on the Hill between the South Hykeham roundabout and the Swinderby roundabout. It's because of roadworks.

Campaign begins to save learning centre

Campaigners are trying to save a learning centre in Cleethorpes. 

The Grimsby Institute which runs the St Peter's Centre is planning to close it in July.

The Institute's told us there's been a fall in demand for services there but people who use it say it'll mean job losses and it's too important to close.

Concern over arson attacks in Grimsby and Cleethorpes

A spate of fires in Grimsby and Cleethorpes since the start of the month has prompted a warning from senior police.

Officers in the area say there have been six arson offences reported in the last two weeks with 19 people arrested including a 32-year-old woman and several teenagers.

The latest incident happened on Friday on Victoria Street in Grimsby town centre about 20.15 when cardboard was put against bins near McDonalds and set alight.

Police want information reported to the non emergency number 101 or 999 in an emergency.

Traffic and travel Across Lincolnshire: Manthorpe accident causing Grantham delays

The A607 Manthorpe Road in Manthorpe just outside Grantham is blocked and there's heavy traffic in both directions between the Longcliffe Road junction and the Sandcliffe Road junction, because of an accident involving a car and a lorry.

Can you help hospital in search for Keith Warrs' relatives?

Hospital officials are trying to trace the next of kin or relatives of a man who has recently died at Grimsby's Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital.

Keith Warrs, who was 72-years-old and lived in Wintringham Road, Grimsby, died on 8 April.

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust is trying to locate any of Mr Warrs' family and ask that anyone who is able to help to contact Sarah Davy on 01472 875442.

The A57 Norman Street in Lincoln's partially-blocked at the A15 Canwick Road junction, because of an accident involving a car and a bus. 

There's congestion on the B1188 Canwick Hill and on the A15 South Park. 

It's not thought anyone was injured in the crash.

Two 14-year-olds have appeared before a crown court judge charged with the murder of a mother and her daughter at their home in Spalding.

The teenagers - a boy and a girl - spoke only to confirm their names during the five minute hearing at Lincoln Crown Court.

They're accused of murdering Elizabeth Edwards and her 13-year-old daughter Katie. They were found at their home on Dawson Avenue in Spalding on Friday lunchtime.

They've been remanded in secure accommodation until 27 June. There was no application for bail.

Sewer repairs mean delays on A158 at Wragby

Work to replace a collapsed sewer in Wragby will go on longer than expected after more problems were discovered by engineers.

Anglian Water says the work to replace the pipe has uncovered a further collapse which will mean temporary traffic lights on the busy A158 road to the coast will be in place for longer.

Town 'needs investment for infrastructure'

A working group's been set up to look at ways of improving Barton upon Humber's infrastructure. 

There are concerns about the amount of traffic including HGVs travelling through the town.

Local firm Wren Kitchens recently announced the creation of 600 jobs at it's headquarters in Barton. 

Town councillor Ann Clark welcomes the town's success but says it needs investment to cope.

Synchronise watches: Lincolnshire firm clock watching for London Marathon

If you're running - or if you're like me watching - the London Marathon this weekend, look out for the clocks, because they're from right here in Lincolnshire.

They're being supplied by Running Imp, which is based in Lincoln.

The company has the responsibility for the setting up and operation of the 55 timing clocks around the famous course.

It's their duty to ensure each clock is perfectly in sync for the estimated 38,000 participants depending on an accurate running time.

Burglar took car in house raid

Police are appealing for information after a burglar sneaked into a house and then made off with a car. 

The incident happened at around 01.00 on Saturday in Westfield Road, Waltham, near Grimsby.

Burglars took the keys to a Vauxhall Insignia but the car was abandoned further down the street.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101.

Tata Steel UK gets a new boss

Tata Steel UK has a new chief executive. The parent company has appointed Bimlendra Jha to the role. He is currently in charge of the long products business at Tata Steel Europe.  

He negotiated the sale of Tata's Scunthorpe plant to Greybull.

Lincolnshire Police forensic teams are now at the address in Dawson Avenue where Elizabeth Edwards and her daughter Katie were found dead on Friday.

More floral tributes have been laid outside the house this morning and neighbours have been speaking of their shock.

Two teenagers have appeared before magistrates this morning in Lincoln charged with murder. 

They have been remanded in youth custody and will appear before Lincoln Crown Court at 14.00 today.

Police search for pair after prosecco theft

Detectives think these two people (pictured) could help them with an investigation into a theft from a garage where prosecco and ice cream were stolen.

Officers have released the pictures today after the theft, which took place at around 20.20 on Sunday, 6 March.

The theft happened at a petrol station at North Greetwell on the A158 just outside Lincoln.

The two people in the pictures were with a young girl who was wearing a red coat, black trousers and white trainers.

Two teenagers who've been charged with the murder of a Lincolnshire dinner lady and her 13-year-old daughter have appeared before a magistrates' court.

The two 14-year-olds, who cannot be named because of their age, will now appear before a crown court judge this afternoon.

The body of a man has been found at a flat in Gainsborough on Saturday evening. 

The dead man, believed to be in his 20s, was discovered at the property in Marshalls Rise, Gainsborough around 18.45. 

Police say his death is currently being treated as unexplained.

A 27-year-old local man has been arrested and is being questioned.

Hopes to make Boston Marathon annual event

There are hopes the Boston Marathon will become a permanent fixture. 

It was one of several running events across Lincolnshire at the weekend including the Lincoln 10K yesterday.


Boston's Mayor Richard Austin who's helped with the organisation of the event says 360 runners took part in Boston's first marathon. 

He says they were pleased with the turnout.

The B1190 Bardney Causeway in Bardney blocked in both directions at the Church Lane junction because of an accident involving a car and a lorry.  

Police search for hit-and-run driver after cycle damaged

Police are investigating after a cyclist was involved in a collision with a blue car that did not stop.

The incident happened at around 15.30 on Friday in Burringham Road, Scunthorpe, close to the Asda store.

The 18-year-old cyclist was unhurt but his bike was damaged in the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting log number 330 of 15 April.

Woman injured after fighting handbag thief

A woman's been treated for cuts and bruises after her handbag was stolen in a Scunthorpe street.

The 57-year-old was walking past Booze Master, Berkeley Street, at around 14.40 yesterday when a man grabbed her handbag.


The thief is Asian, around 5ft 7in tall, aged 18 to 25 and of chubby build.

He wore a hooded top, jogging bottoms and scarf – which were all dark coloured.

CCTV vans to combat school parking problems

People who park dangerously outside eight Lincolnshire schools could soon be caught on camera. 

Lincolnshire County Council is planning a trial scheme using a mobile CCTV vehicle to stop people parking on zig-zag lines and crossings.
