BreakingFootball: Lincoln City coach confirms he is leaving club

David Preece has confirmed he will leave Sincil Bank at the end of the season.

The goalkeeping coach says it's been a tough few years but he feels the club are in a great position to push on and get back to the Football League where they belong.

He wrote on Twitter: "Just want to say a big thanks to everyone at Lincoln City for the last three and half years and wish you all the best for the future.

It comes as the new Lincoln City manager is expected to be announced in the next fortnight.

Air ambulance called after man traps hand at Tata Steel

An air ambulance has been called to Tata Steel in Scunthorpe after a contractor trapped his hand in equipment.

The worker, who was freed by colleagues, was not seriously injured.

A Tata Steel spokesperson said: "The emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called after a male contract employee trapped his hand. 

"The man was released without injury and the air ambulance was not required."  

Traffic and travel: Serious collisions close two Lincolnshire roads

Two Lincolnshire roads have been closed this afternoon following two serious crashes.

One collision, believed to be between a tractor and a motorcycle, has closed the B1191 near Woodhall Spa.

It happened at around 14:15 this afternoon. Police remain at the scene.

The second involving a police car and a Ford Focus, happened on the A15 at Folkingham near Sleaford. 

Three people have been taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Killed man 'used garden as loo' before attack

The trial continues this afternoon of Audria Zauka, accused of murdering a Boston man in October last year.

Sigitas Kirkickas was found beaten to death and had suffered 30 broken bones at a property on Ingelow Avenue in the town.

William Harbage, QC, prosecuting, told the jury at Lincoln Crown Court that Mr Zauka was upset because Mr Kirkickas used his garden as a toilet moments before arriving at the property.

Lincolnshire families say they'll take in child refugees

Families in Lincolnshire have presented pledges to the county council saying they're prepared to take in 200 refugees in their own homes.

The government is coming under increasing pressure to accept 3,000 child refugees from Syria who've made it to Europe unaccompanied.

Members of the East Lindsey area of "sanctuary" group made their pledges today.

The county council says it is committed to taking in refugees but need to ensure the correct government funding is available to support them.

Missing man thought to be in Skegness area

Police are appealing for a missing Lincolnshire man to make contact with them.

Grenville Archer, 58, was staying at the Waterside Lodges in Keal Cotes when he was last seen on Bank Holiday Monday.

It is thought he was wearing a distinct hoody which is bright blue with “TRICKY TRESS” on the front in white lettering .

He may be in the Skegness area.

Fresh appeal across Lincolnshire to find missing woman

Police have made a fresh appeal for help in tracing a missing Lincolnshire woman.

Kelly Buckingham, 37, from Holton-Le-Clay was last seen in December last year.

Inspector Richard Myszczyszyn said: "Kelly is no longer being treated as a high risk missing person but we are still keen to speak to her and would urge her, or anyone who knows of her current whereabouts, to make contact with us".

Kelly may be in the Humberside or South Yorkshire areas.  

Murder trial hears man suffered 30 broken bones

A car wash worker died after being subjected to a brutal beating, a murder trial jury has heard.

Sigitas Kirkickas, 53, suffered brain damage and more than 30 bone fractures after he was allegedly kicked, stamped and beaten in October last year.

A jury at Lincoln Crown Court was told that Mr Kirkickas was attacked moments after arriving at the home of his fellow Lithuanian Audrius Zauka in Ingelow Avenue, Boston.

Mr Zauka denies the charge and claims his two lodgers were to blame for the killing.

Child park snatch attempt in Grimsby

Two men have attempted to snatch a child from a park in Grimsby.

They're reported to have approached two young children playing football at the recreation ground on Sutcliffe Avenue on Monday evening.

No harm came to the children and it is not clear what the intention was, but the men were not believed to be known to the children.

The men are both described as white and in their late 20's of average height and build. 

The incident took place between 17:00 and 17:30.

Lincoln prepares for Tower of London poppies

Merchandise is already on sale in Lincoln ahead of the poppy sculptures coming to Lincoln Castle this month.

Thousands of poppies that made up 'the wave' part of the display will be brought to the city towards the end of May.

Police want to question this man over tips theft

Police have released CCTV footage after cash tips were stolen from a cafe counter in Mablethorpe.

The incident took place on Friday, 15 April and is being linked to the theft of two other charity boxes, one from a shop on the High Street on Sunday 1 May and another earlier in the year from a shop on Seacroft Road.
