Boston manager: No major changes after play-off failure

Boston United manager Dennis Greene has said it would be "crazy" to make drastic changes for next season.  

United suffered a 3-2 aggregate loss to North Ferriby United in the National League North play-off semi-final.

But Greene, who has a year left on his contract, told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "The group is good enough. We just need to add one or two more to it.

"Most of this group have been with us for two years and we have had two play-off campaigns."

Fire savings decision: Station to stay open but engine taken off the road

There was talk of Immingham losing a fire station ahead of a special meeting of Humberside Fire and Rescue Authority this morning.

Illegal immigrants deported after arriving at Lincolnshire docks

The UK Border Force says a search of two vehicles at Immingham has found 10 Albanian men trying to enter the UK illegally. 

Nine of them have been removed from the country - one has claimed asylum which is being considered.

A Border Force spokesman said the men were discovered during searches of two vehicles that had arrived from Rotterdam.

The driver of the second vehicle, a Lithuanian man, was arrested on suspicion of facilitating illegal immigration. He has been released on bail pending further investigations.

Man charged with attempted murder after collision

A teenager from Gainsborough has been charged with attempted murder and dangerous driving after a collision on the A631 outside the town. 

James Smith, who's 19 and from Summergangs Lane was arrested following a collision between a 4x4 car and a pedestrian.

It happened on the A631 near Beckingham last month. The 19-year-old victim was left with serious injuries. 

Mr Smith has been remanded in custody at Nottingham Crown Court.   

Aviation authority called in over Reds display disruption

An investigation's been launched after the season debut of the Red Arrows was marred by an aircraft entering into their restricted airspace. 

The Reds were putting on a display yesterday afternoon at Shuttleworth in Bedfordshire after being given the seal of approval for the new airshow season. 

A spokesman for the RAF said the matter is now being dealt with by the civil aviation authority.

Whale watch: Carcass won't be moved today

East Lindsey District Council says a whale that beached at Mablethorpe yesterday won't now be moved until later this week.

The authority had hoped to shift the carcass today but it's been delayed because a movement order is required.

Warm weather leads to spate of fires

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue says crews have been to at least four grass and hedge fires today as the weather warmed up.

Calls have come in from Branston, near Lincoln, Alford, Grantham and the latest at East Barkwith, near Wragby.

They're on display as part of the ground-breaking ceremony for Boston's £100m Quadrant development which includes housing and a new football stadium for Boston United.

Communities minister: Seaside huts need TLC

We were telling you earlier about a row of beach huts on Mablethorpe promenade which will get a £50,000 makeover.

The cash is coming from the Coastal Revival Fund - which has £700,000 to spend across the country.

Communities Minister Mark Francois said: "We've got heritage hooks to be proud of, but some of these places need some tender loving care."

'Slurry sealing' process for crumbling pavements

Six weeks of work to repair footpaths in parts of North East Lincolnshire starts today. 

Paths in Habrough, Healing, Immingham, West Marsh, Waltham and Cleethorpes will be resurfaced using a process called slurry sealing.

Boat motor engine thieves caught on camera

These CCTV images have been released of two men wanted in connection with stealing outboard motors from boats in Lincolnshire. 

The police say they were taken from craft moored at Surfleet near Spalding over the May Bank Holiday.

The suspects are described as white and in their forties, They were seen in the early hours of the morning in an Audi or a Passat.   

Any information should be passed to Lincolnshire Police on 101.

Deputy delay for new crime commissioner

Lincolnshire's newly-elected Police and Crime Commissioner has delayed naming his deputy.

Conservative councillor Marc Jones was elected to the job last Friday.

He now says he'll name his deputy later this week and not today as expected.  

Mr Jones has said his deputy will concentrate on rural crime. The county's former commissioner Alan Hardwick chose not to appoint a deputy when he was elected in 2012.

'Ounging' and 62 other words you'll only hear in Lincolnshire

The Lincolnshire dialect is full of words that only people from inside the county will understand – as BBC Radio Lincolnshire breakfast show host Scott Dalton found out this week when he mentioned the word 'ounging' live on air.

Former Civic Trust president and his wife die in France crash

It's been confirmed a couple in their 80s who died in a crash in France were from Lincoln. 

Richard Lucas and his wife Mary were in a car which left the road and ended up in a river in the Dordogne on Friday. 

Mr Lucas was a former President of the Lincoln Civic Trust.

The sunshine's causing the usual problems at the coast and on the way to the coast today.

As well as the problems on the A52 we told you about earlier there are jams in Horncastle and Wragby on the A158, which is the main road to the coast.

Football: Tickets on sale for Mariners' play-off clash

Tickets have gone on sale today for Grimsby Town's promotion match at Wembley later this month. 

The Mariners beat part-timers Braintree with a goal in the final minutes of extra time yesterday.

Grimsby striker Padraig Amond, above, sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from the penalty spot to level the tie and send the semi-final into extra-time.  

They'll now face Forest Green Rovers on 15 May for a chance to play in the football league.  

Officials see red over White Hart refurb

A facelift for the White Hart pub in Grimsby is causing controversy. 

The Grade Two listed venue on Bethlehem Street has gone from white and black to red and grey.

Police have revealed details of the crash which happened at 23.55pm on Holme Lane at Messingham, near Scunthorpe.

Last week we were telling you about Nicola Jones from Lincoln - a baker who was picked to make a very special cake.

Well here it is! This little beauty was demolished by the Leicester City team after their last home game at the weekend.

Nicola's a big Leicester fan and said the four-tier, three flavoured cake went down very well.

She was commissioned after the team were crowned Premier League champions

Police urge vigilance after thefts from vehicles

Police have told motorists in North Lincolnshire to take more care of their cars and their valuables after a series of thefts in the area.

Officers say the majority of the reported incidents involve fuel being stolen from vehicles.

But they added more than 50% of incidents involving valuables being taken from cars could have been prevented.

There's been a steep rise in reports of fly-tipping in Lincolnshire. 

Figures obtained by BBC Radio Lincolnshire reveal 6,000 complaints were investigated in the past year, 360 more than the previous year.

Revamp on the way for run down beach huts

Beach huts in Mablethorpe are to be renovated and refurbished after being given a £50,000 grant from the government. 

A community improvement group successfully bid for the money.
