Cruise ship hit with norovirus 'should never have set sail' say couple

Hundreds of passengers fell ill on a voyage on the Balmoral to North America.

Gillian Frith and Peter Downing from Lincolnshire joined the cruise at Southampton. 

The company - Fred Olsen - has announced compensation measures to any guests affected by the outbreak and says it's undertaken extensive cleaning of the ship.

Forensic tests are being carried out on a cash machine and a pick up truck following a raid in Sutton Bridge.

They were found near Peterborough this morning. 

The police are appealing for witnesses.

Councillor 'doesn't expect fracking rush in Lincolnshire'

A senior Lincolnshire councillor, Colin Davie, says he doesn't expect a rush to apply for the extraction of shale gas in Lincolnshire using the controversial process known as fracking - despite some areas being licensed for the process. 

It comes as councillors in North Yorkshire give permission for it be be carried out there.

Emergency services were called to the Maud Foster drain in the town just before 8:00 this morning.

The woman who's believed to be in her 70s was taken to hospital but later died. 

Police remain on the scene while the investigations continue.

Plans to provide direct rail services between Lincoln and Birmingham will be considered by the County Council later.

The proposal by the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership could be worth at least 34 million pounds to the economy.

A UKIP councillor in Lincolnshire has been appointed to a new job - working for the party's leader on the Welsh Assembly. 

Robin Hunter-Clarke, who represents Skegness, has announced he's Chief of Staff to Neil Hamilton. 

Councillor Hunter-Clarke says it won't affect his role in representing Skegness on Lincolnshire County Council.

Delays For Lincolnshire's Lancaster

It'll be another month at least before Lincolnshire's Lancaster Thumper returns to the skies. 

That's despite the aircraft completing a test flight last October after an engine fire a year ago.

Lincolnshire Police say it was taken from the Co-op in Sutton Bridge using a vehicle. 

Officers were called to the scene in the early hours of this morning. 

The stolen machine was found intact in a rural location just to the east of Peterborough.

A Scunthorpe man has a tumour removed after 20 years

Ian Crow, 66, of Ashby underwent surgery at Scunthorpe hospital to remove the lump which weighed 1.2kg and is believed to be the third-largest of its kind in the world. 

Mr Crow lived with the slow growing tumour for 24 years. 

It took a two-hour operation to remove it.

A woman's been taken to hospital with serious injuries after her car entered a waterway in Lincolnshire. 

The emergency services were called to the Maud Foster drain in Boston just before 08:00 this morning.

A small number of properties were evacuated earlier while engineers made repairs.
