Watch: City centre rail footbridge to open this week

Network Rail have said this afternoon that a long-awaited footbridge over the railway line in Lincoln city centre will open on Friday. 

And the company has released footage from the crossing on the High Street to show just why the bridge is needed.

In this video a woman tries to beat the barriers, but falls as she reaches the other side of the crossing and doesn't get back up.

Network Rail says almost 35,000 people use the crossing every day.

Cathedral vigil for MP Jo Cox

An hour of reflection and remembrance will take place in Lincoln later to pay tribute to the MP Jo Cox who was kllled last Thursday.

The vigil will be held outside the West Front of Lincoln Cathedral to give people a chance to come together to come to terms with her death.

Meet 'The Beast'

It might be the middle of summer - but Lincolnshire County Council's already taken delivery of the first of four new gritters.

The council says it's been dubbed "The Beast" and you can see from the eyes on the snowplough that it means business.

It'll be at the county council's stand during the Lincolnshire Show if you want to take a closer look.

Broken neck bridegroom postpones wedding

A couple from Boston due to get married this week have postponed the wedding after the groom suffered serious injuries on his stag do. 

James Thorpe, 28, broke his neck just days into the trip to Majorca.

He's now returned home but his fiance Michaela says she wants to concentrate on recovery rather than the wedding.  

Traffic and travel: Canwick Road reopens

There have major problems on one of the main routes into Lincoln this morning on Canwick Hill this morning. It's been completely closed after an accident. But police have just told us it's now reopened - but it may take a while for the jams to clear.

Teenager dies in motorcycle crash

Police say a 17-year-old man died after his motorcycle crashed at Uffington near Stamford last night. 

Officers were called to the A1175 at around 21.20 last night.

The victim was riding a 125cc Yamaha motorbike - police say no other vehicles were involved. 

'Police let me down' says sex abuse claims man

This is David - he's come forward to BBC Radio Lincolnshire to speak out about sex abuse he says he suffered as a teenager.

He wants Lincolnshire Police to talk to him about how they investigated his complaint, against a wealthy landowner from the county.

David says he was repeatedly attacked by Gordon Dawson, who was found dead with a gun at his side after police put the accusations to him in the 1990s.

Both Lincolnshire Police and the Lincolnshire Police Commissioner Marc Jones say it would be inappropriate to meet David - but he says he wants answers.

Meadow Lane in North Hykeham is blocked in both directions between the Chapel Lane junction and the Russell Avenue junction, because of an accident.

The A18 in Brigg is partially blocked and there's queuing traffic at the B1206 Scawby Road junction, because of a broken down lorry on the roundabout.

More now on those problems on the B1188 Canwick Hill in Canwick, Lincoln. The road's closed in both directions and there's very slow traffic in both directions at the Heighington Road junction, because of an accident and recovery work.
