Mayor funding under question after Brexit result

Sharon Edwards

Political Reporter, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Some interesting details emerging from the launch of the six week consultation on a directly elected mayor for Greater Lincolnshire.

Another bid has gone to central government calling for more powers and greater devolution, there's also a chance that whoever holds the position could also take over the Police and Crime Commissioner role.

Perhaps most interesting of all is that part of the £15m central government promised for the areas that got on board with the idea actually comes from the EU.

Obviously that is now very much under threat so councilors are looking for reassurances that this funding will be secure.
