Spalding Shootings: Local MP, John Hayes, issues statement

Alex Rhodes

BBC Lincolnshire Live

"The whole of our community has been shocked by the unimaginable events which happened in Spalding on Tuesday. This tragedy was dealt with by our local police force with speed and care -several officers were on the scene within moments- and the ambulance service, too, responded rapidly.

Now is the time for the whole community to come together – in sorrow, but with fortitude. Knowing the people of Spalding and South Holland so well, I am certain that we will all rise to that challenge.

We do not want nor welcome inflammatory or spiteful remarks from those outside our area who seem more interested in fuelling hatred and despair than in grieving and healing, and I hope we won’t see a repetition of that kind of irresponsibility."

The shocking is we have so many off street parking issues around the town. When asked if it could be used overnight told no!

Mark SuffieldNorth Kesteven District Councillor

Grantham Road is free. The car park is £2. Which would you choose? It's not rocket science why it's not doing well.

Thomas PinchbeckFacebook

More wasted money. Like the lights that were put in a few years ago by Barclays then removed.

Donna FawcettFacebook

Can't understand Sleaford people, two pounds for all day parking? It costs more than that for an hour in some of Lincoln's parks!!!

However it wasn't put there by medieval youths looking to put their tag on it, it’s believed they were carved by stonemasons perhaps as part of a protection ritual.

Car park branded 'waste of money' after taking just £500 in a month

Alex Rhodes

BBC Lincolnshire Live

A new council-run car park in Sleaford that cost £100,000 to build is being barely used, say residents.

The 100-space site off Grantham Road could take £1,000 per week if it was filled to capacity - but took only £500 for the whole of last month.

BBC

In response, North Kesteven District Council admits it's disappointed by the take-up of the car park so far, but a range of measures are in hand to promote it.

You've been having your say on social media:

The carpark on Grantham road is lucky to have one car in it, waste of money.

Emma J CrossTwitter

What a waste of public money... There's too many pay and park car parks in Seaford so what can the council expect?

It's after NHS England announced it was to close the unit at the Leicester site - to "improve standards and safety".

But Lincolnshire's health scrutiny committee has now demanded a public consultation before any changes are made as it is the nearest site of its kind for many people in our county.

The unit was threatened with closure back in 2012 but was saved by a national review in July last year.
