Traffic and travel: A1 accident

If you're heading for the A1 this afternoon this is one to watch out for. One lane's blocked and there's queuing traffic on the A1 northbound at Newark because of an accident involving two lorries.  

Body in tent 'had been there for a number of weeks' says detective

We've just heard from Detective Inspector Dave Harrop about the body which was found in a tent beside the A46 Lincoln bypass yesterday evening.

He says two cyclists found the body which had been in the tent for "a number of weeks" in woodland, near to the Doddington Road roundabout..

DI Harrop says officers believe they know who the man is - and are in the process of informing his family.

A post-mortem examination will take place in the next few days.

Bishop of Lincoln: Fear is a victory for terrorists

The Bishop of Lincoln, the Rt Rev Christopher Lowson says his clergy will continue with their work without fear after the latest terror attack in France.

Speaking to me on BBC Radio Lincolnshire, the Bishop says he's had reassurances from the police that there's "no specific intelligence" of any threat.

He added: "We should remain alert and not alarmed, because if you're fearful that's a victory for the terrorists who are making us change our way of life".

Police release e-fit over RAF Marham abduction

Detectives investigating the attempted abduction of an RAF serviceman at Marham a week ago have released these e-fit images of the suspects.

A body's been discovered near the Lincoln bypass.

Police say it was discovered by members of the public in the woods near the junction with Doddington Road yesterday evening at 20.30.

A police spokesman said: "The body is decomposed and was found in a tent.  We have cordoned off the area to investigate the cause of death and work is ongoing to identify the person."

Murder case adjourned

A man's appeared in court today accused of murdering a 16 year old Lincolnshire girl. 

Police were called to Pierson Street in Newark early on Sunday morning.

They found Hannah Pearson from Marston near Grantham unconscious. She died shortly after arriving at hospital. 

James Morton who's 23 and from Pierson Street was charged with murder last night. His case was adjourned and he'll appear before a judge at Nottingham Crown Court tomorrow.

Man in court on murder charge

A man from Skegness is due before magistrates today charged with the murder of Lenuta Haidemac. 

The 28 year old's body was found at a flat in Drummond Road last Friday.

Harry Potter star Warwick Davis will be checking in at the county's answer to Hogwarts this morning for a mini-festival of Harry Potter films.

I'm at the office of the south Lincolnshire coroner this morning for the opening of the inquests into the Hart family from Moulton.

The hearing's expected to start soon and will examine some of the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Lance, Claire and Charlotte Hart, who were shot dead in Spalding last Tuesday.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a teenager who died in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Hannah Pearson, 16, of Marston, Lincolnshire, was found unconscious by police at a property on Pierson Street in Newark just after midnight.

It's believed Lance Hart - shot his wife and daughter Clare and Charlotte Hart (below) - before turning the gun on himself.
