Attacks on health workers: Your views

Alex Rhodes

BBC Lincolnshire Live

We told you earlier about the new figures showing that over the past few years thousands of health workers have found themselves as victims of assault.

Some of this is because patients they treat suffer mental health problems.

If you are treating people who are unaware of, or unable to control their actions, you are going to be abused at some point... front-line staff should be aware that it's a risk of doing their jobs and should be ready to deal with it.

But the reaction to those who attack staff because they're drunk or on drugs is far less sympathetic:

This makes me so angry, it must stop!

No refunds for Theatre Royal audiences who lost out

BBC Look North

East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire

The new owners of Lincoln's Theatre Royal say those who've bought tickets for cancelled performances won't get a refund from them.

The venue has been closed until further notice. A new business was set up to run the venue in May after a BBC investigation into the finances of the previous operating company.

Theatre royal

Spokesman Bruce Hayes says they're committed to re-opening the theatre later this year - but can't honour the tickets sold before they took over

The money they paid has been spent by the previous owners... It is nothing to do with us as the holding company that own the property, it is nothing to do with the new company that's trying to get started. It's very sad for these people and we hope and wish they will support the new Theatre Royal.

Man fined £2000 for caravan parking offence

BBC Radio Lincolnshire

John Anthony Thorneycroft, 62, has been fined for illegally residing in a caravan in North Scarle.

Lincoln Magistrates’ Court heard how Mr Thorneycroft had been on land at Meadow Lane, without planning permission, since September 2012.

Thorneycroft was fined £1,500, ordered to pay the legal costs of £654.73 and a £120 victim surcharge.

Court action is only taken in these circumstances as a last resort when other avenues have been exhausted. In this case we had agreed to two deadline extensions and our Housing Needs Team also worked with Mr Thorneycroft to find other suitable accommodation without success."

Attacks on health care workers

Scott Dalton

Presenter, BBC Radio Lincolnshire

We told you earlier about the thousands of cases of health workers being attacked doing their jobs.

Part of it is due to patients being drunk or on drugs but in other instances the people being treated suffer from mental health problems or dementia.

I've been speaking to Steve Roberts the head of dementia services at Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Trust:

Tourist info centre in Woodhall Spa to stay open

Natasha Turney

BBC Radio Lincolnshire

The village's tourist information centre will stay open despite warnings of closure earlier in the year.

The centre, which shares a building with the Cottage Museum, was under threat after East Lindsey District Council announced cuts to similar sites across the area.

However directors at Woodhall Spa Cottage Museum have agreed to keep it running using volunteers.

Public toilet decision due later

Alex Rhodes

A 20p charge for using public toilets in Lincoln could be approved later.

The city council is considering charges at facilities in Castle Square, Tentercroft Street and Lucy Tower Street.

Some businesses fear they'll be inundated with people wanting to use their toilets.

The council says it would help it save a significant amount of money.
