More nurses for Lincolnshire's hospitals

One hundred new nurses are starting work in Lincolnshire's hospitals. 

They've just graduated from the nursing degree course at the University of Lincoln. 

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust says they'll significantly boost nursing numbers at Lincoln County Hospital, Pilgrim Hospital in Boston and Grantham and District Hospital.

Recognition for the Viking Way

There are calls for the Viking Way through Lincolnshire to become a national trail. 

It starts on the banks of the Humber and finishes on the shores of Rutland Water covering 147 miles.

The route is 40 years old today.

Pier of the year up for sale

Cleethorpes Pier, officially the best in the UK is up for sale for an undisclosed fee. 

The historic building which opened in 1873, has changed ownership between the public and private sector a number of times. 

In 2013 it was bought by a private buyer and reopened last summer after being transformed by its recent restoration.

The owners say they're immensely proud of what they've done but are ready to hand the pier over. 

Clark Weightman of Hull are to oversee the sale of the pier.

That's the view of Peter Denby from Denby Transport in Lincoln on the migrant camp known as the Jungle in Calais. 

French farmers, lorry drivers and traders are blockading the main route into the port to call for the camp to be shut down.

Call for action over flooding

People living in the Low Fulney area near Spalding are calling for tighter planning laws on the building of glasshouses following a series of flash floods. 

Residents say an increased use of concrete and glass in the area has ruined the local drainage system. 

South Holland District Council says the companies work with water agencies and have lagoons to store surface water, but the authority is monitoring the situation.

Ramblers in Lincolnshire have been celebrating the 40th birthday of the Viking Way.

The 147-mile route starts on the banks of the Humber and winds its way through Lincolnshire to finish on the shores of Rutland Water, a total of 235km (147 miles).

The draw for the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round has been made. 

Boston United make the trip to either Kirby Muxloe or Leicester Road who are on step 5 and 6 of the non-league ladder. 

Gainsborough Trinity have a difficult tie at fellow National League North side Altrincham, Lincoln United have also been drawn against National League North opposition with a trip to Nuneaton. 

If Stamford win their replay, they'll visit fellow Division One South side Gresley and Grantham Town will face Bedworth Town if they can beat Chasetown in tomorrow's replay.

An appeal's being made for witnesses to an assault on a 15-year-old boy on the Lincolnshire coast. 

The police say he was punched in the face in an arcade on Trunch Lane in Chapel St Leonards. 

It happened around 20:30 BST on Thursday 25 August - the details including a CCTV image have just been released. 

Officers say the people in the photo may have important information.

A fire destroyed the building on Swift Gardens in the city on Friday night. 

Police are treating it as arson.

A vicar from Grantham says the sexuality of the Bishop is totally irrelevant to the job he does. 

The Right Reverend Dr Nicholas Chamberlain revealed he's gay after a newspaper planned a story on his sexuality. 

Despite some divisions in the wider church, the Rector of St Wulfram's in Grantham - Father Stuart Cradduck - says in this day and age people aren't bothered.
