Charity seeks to help in Aleppo

A Manchester humanitarian charity is preparing to feed thousands more people caught up in the conflict in Syria.

Human Appeal has already helped 42,000 people. 

Chief Executive Othman Moqbel says the charity is trying to provide food and shelter to people who have been caught up in the fighting around the city of Aleppo.

Foundation set up to 'honour' Lee Rigby

The mother of Lee Rigby - the Middleton soldier who was murdered by extremists in Woolwich nearly three years ago - says she wants people to remember her son as more than just a victim of a terrorist attack.

Lyn Rigby has now set up the Lee Rigby Foundation in honour of her son. "The idea is to help bereaved families of those who served in the armed forces," she told the BBC.

"We never had much help when Lee was murdered. It is a way to honour Lee and he would be very proud."

M6 crash: one lane reopens to allow traffic to pass the scene

One lane of the M6 has reopened to allow traffic to pass the scene, police have said. 

It comes after a car and a lorry crashed on the motorway between junctions 18 and 19 this afternoon. No one was seriously hurt.

Firefighters have released a second person who was trapped in a car involved in the M6 crash in Cheshire. 

They are being transported to hospital by air ambulance.

Police are diverting vehicles from the area.

Four vehicles were involved in a crash at about 12:10 between junction 18, Middlewich and junction 19, Knutsford.

CCTV appeal after burglaries in Egerton

Police are appealing for information and CCTV footage after a spate of burglaries in the Egerton area of Bolton. 

Nine burglaries took place between 24 and 27 April on Druids Close, Cox Green Close, Delph Avenue, Blackburn Road and Albert Street.

The offender forced open locks on garages and sheds and entered homes and stole items including a car.
