Salford Red Devils owner Marwan Koukash has called for a vote of no confidence in the Rugby Football League.

The Red Devils were docked six points and fined £5,000 for breaching the salary cap in 2014 and 2015 by the RFL.

Before that ruling, Mr Koukash said he would go to "all-out war" with the RFL if they were found guilty.

"I am in talks with a number of other chairmen to set up a meeting to bring a vote of no confidence in the leadership of the RFL," he said.

Arrest over Hyde pub stabbing

A man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a woman at the Sportsman pub in Hyde.

Police said the victim, 26, has been released from hospital.

A 27-year-old man was detained on suspicion of section 18 assault and taken to Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport.

Bournemouth fan Steve Baxter was unable to get a ticket for the original fixture despite travelling north to Manchester.

Warrington 'suspicious' suitcase find statement

Cheshire Police said in a statement, they received reports of a "suspicious suitcase" left outside Holy Trinity Church in Sankey Street, Warrington, at 10:07 today.
