Concerns over missing 13-year-old boy

Greater Manchester Police say they are becoming increasingly concerned about a 13-year-old boy who has been missing since Wednesday.

Cian Robinson was last seen at home in Worsley Road, Eccles, at about 07:00. He was wearing a green North Face jacket, grey jogging pants and grey trainers.

A GMP spokesman said it is believed Cian could be in Manchester city centre.

A 56-year-old man has been arrested after three firearms were discovered at a house in Harpurhey.

Greater Manchester Police raided the property on Alderside Road at about 08:00 BST and also found ammunition.

A man who stabbed a woman to death in a "jealous rage" has been jailed for life for her murder.

Miriam Nyuazema, 35, was found outside her home in Shawclough Way, Rochdale in Greater Manchester following reports of a disturbance on 28 July last year.

She died in hospital from seven stab wounds to her head and upper body.

Josphat Mutekedza, 36, of no fixed address, was ordered to serve minimum of 26 years after being convicted of murder at Bolton Crown Court.

The picture of a boy who covered his face in his mother's make-up has gone viral.

"It made me jump as I was not expecting it," said Sarah Chrisp, after she saw her four-year-old son's face. 

She posted the image on Facebook to amuse her make-up artist friends but was "amazed" how quickly the photo spread across social media.

Ms Chrisp, from Macclesfield, Cheshire, said: "Once I realised what he'd done, I was pretty sad."

Jealous ex jailed for murder

A soldier has been given a life sentence for the murder of a woman in Rochdale.

Thirty-seven-year-old Miriam Nyuazema was found stabbed outside her home in July last year.

Her ex-partner Josphat Mutekedza, 36, was sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum of 26 years.

Cricket: Buttler signs new Lancashire deal

Evans' new rape trial date set

Footballer Ched Evans' retrial for rape will be held in October.

The former Manchester City player, who always denied raping the woman, had his conviction quashed at the Court of Appeal in London in April.

The 27-year-old was jailed in 2012 for raping a 19-year-old at a Premier Inn near Rhyl, Denbighshire.

At a hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday, High Court Judge Mrs Justice Nicola Davies said Mr Evans, of Alderley Edge, Cheshire, would stand trial again from 4 October.

It says that support to witnesses and victims varies greatly depending on where they live.

Council-owned firm loses taxpayers £1.6m

A company set up to save money for two of Cheshire's local authorities made a net loss of £1.6m.

CoSocius was wound-up in April by its owners Cheshire East Council and Cheshire West & Chester Council, after two years' trading.

Savings of £1m delivered to the councils by the IT and HR firm were outweighed by a final deficit of £2.6m, met by public budgets.

The councils said the company "was not the success we hoped it would be".
