A55 death crash: Wirral lorry driver's 'fatal' sat-nav error

A lorry driver made the "fatal error" of fiddling with his sat-nav just before he killed a father in a crash near Abergele, Conwy county, in March 2015.

Nicholas Clough failed to see traffic had slowed down for roadworks and hit the vehicle Daren Longden, of Leeds, was in, Caernarfon Crown Court heard. 

Clough, 36, of Bromborough, Wirral, admitted causing death by dangerous driving and was jailed for three-and-a-half years.

Football: Wales midfielder Joe Allen yet to hold Liverpool contract talks

Liverpool have not discussed a new contract with Wales midfielder Joe Allen, BBC Wales Sport understands.

Allen, who joined Liverpool from Swansea City for £15m in August 2012, has 14 months left before his current deal expires. 

The 26-year-old has previously said he is playing for his long-term Anfield future.

New operator for New Brighton Marine Lake sought

Wirral Council is looking for a new operator for New Brighton Marine Lake.

Isle of Man government in talks over Liverpool landing stage

The Isle of Man is considering spending more than £15m on a new ferry landing stage in Liverpool, the Manx government have confirmed.

West Cheshire children's home hospital service closure criticised

Parents have criticised plans to close a service which allows sick children in west Cheshire to receive medical treatment at home.

The Countess of Chester's 'Children's Hospital at Home' service will be discontinued at the end of April. 

Managers have been told the decision will be a "devastating loss" and have a "disastrous impact on families". NHS commissioners said savings due from the scheme "have not been realised".

Eleven men from across Merseyside and Wales have been jailed for distributing multi-million pound quantities of drugs to South Wales, police have said.

Officers seized cocaine, amphetamines, cash, cars and a jet ski during drugs raids in Merseyside, Manchester, Cheshire and Wales last July. 

Investigators were able to prove that the gang distributed 200kg of amphetamines in a series of drug runs between Merseyside and South Wales.

A former detective who manipulated domestic abuse victims for "his own sexual gratification" has been jailed for four years.

Ex-Det Con Michael McMillan, 32, contacted women "who looked to him for support" at Merseyside Police's Family Crime Investigation Unit.

Appearing at Liverpool Crown Court, he pleaded guilty to seven counts of misconduct in public office.

Along with Winnie Keating, she ran the centre for 16 years, before retiring in 2015.

This weekend saw the re-opening of platform one at Moorfields station after its three-month closure for renovation.

Former Merseyside detective Michael McMillan has been jailed for four years for making sexual advances to domestic abuse victims.

In a statement Merseyside Police Ch Supt Karen Cummings said McMillan "abused" the trust of "vulnerable victims of crime". 

She said: "He manipulated women who looked to him for professional support, for his own sexual gratification and his behaviour is despicable and unforgivable."

Michael McMillan was jailed for seven charges of misconduct in public office.

The 32-year-old, of Victoria Road in Crosby, was charged last year over claims he'd made persistent contact with victims for "his own sexual purposes" during his time as a detective constable with the Family Crime Investigation Unit.
