Man arrested in relation to murder in Everton

Detectives investigating the murder of Mark Hillman in Everton last Week have arrested a man on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and assisting an offender.

Mark Hillman, 26, was shot twice in the back before being found on a pavement in Lloyd Close at about 17:15 BST on Wednesday.  

The 35-year-old man from Anfield has been taken into custody where he will be questioned by detectives, Merseyside Police said. A woman was also arrested on Saturday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

Football: Klopp says Can to return but 'no decision' on Sturridge

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can will return to the Reds' squad for the Europa League semi-final second leg against Villareal at Anfield on Thursday, Jurgen Klopp has said - but he was less clear about striker Daniel Sturridge.

When asked whether Sturridge would start he said: "I was waiting for this question. He could be, 100%, but I've made no decision."  

The Spanish side lead the Reds 1-0 but Klopp said "If we play our best we then we can go to the final... we are ready."

Two bailed over ecstasy death drug supply charge

Two people have been bailed by police after they were arrested on a drug charge after the death of a teenage girl, who took a form of ecstasy known as "Mastercard".

Faye Allen, 17, from Liverpool died in the early hours of the bank holiday, after a night out at Victoria Warehouse in Trafford, Greater Manchester. 

A man and a woman, arrested on Tuesday in St Helens, on suspicion of possessing a Class A drug with intent to supply, were bailed until 1 July.

Police investigate after shots fired at Bootle house

Police are investigating after a house in Bootle was shot at earlier.

Officers were called to Timon Avenue at 12:20 by a member of the public reporting that a property had been damaged. The offender or offenders left in a car. 

Police say no-one has come forward to emergency services to report they have been injured and it is believed the house was empty at the time.

They say there is a large police presence in the area to provide reassurance to the local community.

The Countess of Chester's 'Children's Hospital at Home' service will continue until the end of June, when a review will recommend a long-term plan.

Parents said ending the scheme would have a "disastrous impact on families".

Two men arrested over Walton van shooting

Two men from Everton and Walton have been arrested by Merseyside detectives investigating shots fired at a van. 

The driver claims he was fired at on Buchanan Road in Walton on the afternoon of Bank Holiday Monday. 

It meant his vehicle swerved and hit the gable end wall of a house.

Major rewiring of Kingsway Tunnel begins

A £7.5m project to rewire and replace the lightning in the Kingsway Tunnel has begun.

The work - which will see 75 miles of cables installed (the equivalent distance of Liverpool to Leeds) - is part of an on-going 10-year tunnels' investment programme.

Merseytravel say there will be "minimal disruption" to tunnel users as the majority of work is taking place overnight. It is expected to take 18 months to complete.

Former Brookside and Hollyoaks star Kristian Ealey dies at 38

Tributes have been paid to former Brookside and Hollyoaks actor Kristian Ealey who has died at the age of 38.

Mr Ealey was best known for his character Matt Musgrove, who appeared in Brookside between 1998 and 2000 and also in Hollyoaks from 2000 to 2004.

He was also a popular musician in Liverpool with the band Tramp Attack, and appeared as Ringo Starr in the film In His Life: The John Lennon Story.

Man shot in Liverpool car showroom by masked men

A 34-year-old man is recovering after he was shot at a car showroom in south Liverpool. 

It happened at Speke Hall Motors on Speke Hall Road on Tuesday afternoon. 

It is believed the offenders, who were wearing masks, turned up in a black car and were last seen heading towards Hillfoot Avenue.
