The showers may begin to turn heavy at times, with a risk of thunder in places. 

Any showers will ease off soon after dusk and clear spells and light winds will lead to a cool night with below average minimum temperatures.

Closure order granted at St Helens house following anti-social behaviour

Merseyside Police has been granted a closure order against a property in St Helens following reports of anti-social behaviour. The house in Ewart Road will remain closed until August after the order was approved at Liverpool Magistrates' Court.

Bolesworth team offers pony rides ahead of Cheshire equestrian event

Children are being offered free pony rides on Saturday in Town Hall Square on Northgate Street in Chester.

The rides have been organised by a team from Bolesworth International Horse Trials, which are being held in the grounds of Bolesworth Castle in Cheshire from 16 to 19 June.

Man jailed for attempted murder after starting fire that left his partner with 'life-changing' injuries

A man who admitted the attempted murder of his partner has been jailed for 16 years, police said.

Andrew Braithwaite, 51, started a fire at the couple’s home in St John’s Avenue, Haydock, in February.

Police said Catherine Wilcock, his partner of 26 years, has been left with life-changing injuries as a result of the blaze.

Les Green from Birkenhead completed the walk in authentic combat equipment, while sleeping in shelters over seven days.

His three-year-old, Scarlett, is fighting neuroblastoma - a childhood cancer that affects about 100 children in the UK each year, usually those aged five years and under.

Man, 19, arrested over Liverpool sex attack

A 19-year-old man from Walton has been charged in connection with a sex attack in Liverpool. 

Officers are investigating the report of an attack in the area of Rice Lane and Evered Road on Thursday morning. 

The man will appear at Liverpool Crown Court next month after being remanded into custody.

Next of kin appeal for Croxteth man

Liverpool Coroner’s Office is appealing for the public’s help in tracing the family of a man from Croxteth who has died. Thomas Hancox, 53, of Hasselbeech Close, was found dead at home on 17 May.There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Police have released CCTV images of a man wanted in connection with an assault on a woman in Southport.

The 27 year-old woman was pulled to the floor by the man on Waverley Street at around 4:30 on 1 May, after an allegation had been made about the theft of two mobile phones. 

Police have released a photograph of a man they believe could help them with their enquiries.

There is uncertainty over whether an historic light ship will remain berthed on Liverpool waterfront.

Alan Roberts, the owner of the Mersey Bar ship, Planet, owes £4,250 in berthing fees, plus a further £4,965 in court costs.

A pre-arranged meeting between Mr Roberts and an official from the Canal and River Trust was due to take place on Friday, but Mr Roberts failed to turn up.

Chantelle Seaborn, NW waterway manager, said: "We need Mr Roberts to contact us and provide the appropriate safety certification and arrange payment of the berthing fees if we are to support the ship staying in the dock.  

"Given the light ship’s historic links to the area, we are keen to help but Mr Roberts has to engage with us to make that happen.”

Fire crews were called to a building fire in Chester yesterday morning.

The first floor and roof of the two-storey disused building on High Street in Farndon were "well alight" when fire service arrived - a main water jet was used to put it out.
