Ronald Koeman is set to be unveiled as the new Everton manager before the end of the week, BBC Radio Solent's Adam Blackmore has revealed.

Saints and Everton have agreed compensation of around £5m for the 53-year-old Dutchman, paving the way for him to succeed Roberto Martinez in a deal reported to be worth around £6m per year.

Koeman was head-hunted by new Everton owner Farhad Moshiri after guiding Southampton to their two best ever seasons in the Premier League.

Everton have not yet officially announced the move, although it is expected the Dutchman will be presented when he returns from holiday.

Investigation continues after stabbing at Liverpool petrol station

Three men have been stabbed in what police are describing as a "targeted attack" outside a petrol station in West Derby.

Paramedics were called to Larkhill filling station on Queens Drive last night and found the victims with knife injuries.

The men, aged 23, 26, and 42, were being treated in hospital. Two are recovering while a third will need surgery. 

Officers want to trace a silver Ford Focus Titanium being driven away from the scene.

Norris Green house fire believed to be arson attack

A house fire that broke out in Liverpool last night is being treated as a suspected arson attack.

Firefighters were called to the house on Muirhead Avenue in Norris Green just before 23:30. No one was inside the property when they arrived.

The incident has been handed over to Merseyside Police.

Three men have been stabbed in what police are describing as a "targeted attack" outside a petrol station in West Derby.

Officers were called to the incident Larkhill filling station on Queens Drive at about midnight by paramedics who were treating the victims for injuries to their upper bodies. 

The men, aged 23, 26, and 42, are being treated in hospital.

An investigation is continuing after the body of a woman was found in the River Dee in Chester.

It was removed from the water near to Saddlery Way on Monday afternoon. 

Cheshire Police is working to find out who it is and how they died.

Hundreds of extras needed for 'major movie' in Liverpool

Extras are needed for "a major feature film" being shot in Liverpool later this month - although producers are staying tight-lipped about the movie's title.

A casting agency has put out a call for about 300 men and women to get involved in the production, which they say will feature "A-list actors".

Men must have "longer" hair with sideburns and a waist no larger than 38 ins. Women must fit a dress size no larger than 12.

Klopp was spotted in the crowd watching Higuain (apparently seated next to the striker's brother and agent) as Argentina faced Chile in the Copa America - so the interest does seem credible.

Historic England - which gives protected status to some of our best landmarks and buildings - is looking for photos of the country's first mosque in Liverpool.

The mosque at 8 Brougham Terrace was set up in 1887 by English Muslim convert Abdullah Quilliam.

Historic England is also asking the public to share their knowledge and photos of other historical sites across the country so they can record important facts, and even unlock some secrets about some of country's listed places.

Fire crews were called out at the old Hermitage Tavern in Queens Drive in Walton early on Sunday morning.

The fire service said it has dealt with a number of similar incidents at empty building across the region in recent weeks.

A number of hydrants have been damaged since the weekend in Huyton and St Helens - the latest was in Liverpool last night. 

Hydrants were damaged in Soho Street - it caused water pressure to drop, and supplies to be cut off completely in some areas.

It should be returning to normal this morning though United Utilities warned the water may be discoloured this morning.
