Cheshire Police said officers were analysing CCTV following the incident in Wrexham Road earlier, and the force tweeted to warn of the dangers of not concentrating on the road.

Work on Liverpool's Welsh Streets to begin in August

After years of delays, work on regenerating Liverpool's Welsh Streets will get under way next month. 

Last year, the government blocked plans to demolish hundreds of the Victorian buildings. 

As part of a pilot scheme, 35 buildings on High Park Street and Voelas Street in Princes Park will be turned into 25 energy efficient homes.

A race hate incident in Liverpool city centre is being investigated by police after a video appeared on social media.

The footage appears to show a woman hurling racist abuse at a doorman in Ranelagh Street during the early hours of Friday morning.

A 27-year-old has contacted the force's dedicated hate crime unit, SIGMA.

A building collapses in the Welsh Streets regeneration area of Liverpool forcing the evacuation of family from a neighbouring flat.

The front of a derelict property on High Park Street in Toxteth collapsed onto the pavement shortly before 19.45 BST on Monday, Merseyside Police said.

Nobody was hurt but a family living in a flat above a neighbouring shop has been evacuated.

High Park Street is closed at its junction with Voelas Street and Rhiwlas Street while structural engineers and demolition experts assess the scene.

A resident who lives near to Liverpool's Welsh Streets said the regeneration plans have "great potential".

The pilot scheme will see 35 properties in High Park Street and Veolas Street be remodelled into "modern" accommodation after the government ruled in favour of the development.

A man has been shot in the arm in Sefton.

Officers found the 22-year-old with injuries thought to have been caused by a gun in Coney Crescent in Crosby last night.
