Sadie Hartley death: Accused speaks of relationship with love rival's partner

Sarah Williams, who has denied murdering her love rival Sadie Hartley, has been giving more evidence.

Miss Williams says she first met Ms Hartley's partner, Ian Johnston in 2011 and became friends with him on Facebook.

MP's anger as hospital executives remain suspended on full pay

A Merseyside MP is angry that a year on, four senior executives at Southport and Ormskirk Hospital remain suspended on full pay, costing the taxpayer £400,000.

They were placed on leave following whistleblowing complaints. Southport MP John Pugh says this situation isn't getting better.

The nature of the allegations has not been revealed and an investigation continues.

Bidston Observatory is being sold in an online auction with a guide price of £550,000 - but campaigners are worried the sale will lead to the loss of an important piece of local heritage.

Dr Steve Pickles from the Bidston Preservation Trust says they do not want to see the property sold to housing developers and would prefer to keep it open as a public facing museum or artists research centre.

Scrambler bike rider breaks leg in Huyton crash

A scrambler bike rider has suffered a broken leg after crashing in Huyton. 

Police were called to Hillside Road just after 19:00 last night, to reports that an off-road bike had collided with a car. 

The 21-year-old rider was taken to hospital, where his condition is described as stable.

Commonwealth Games 2026: Liverpool plans to be host city

Liverpool is planning to make a formal bid to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games, the city's mayor has said.

Joe Anderson said the city council would launch a feasibility study before submitting its application.
