Man in court over Hunt Cross retail park stabbing

A man has appeared in court charged with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after a man was stabbed at Hunts Cross retail park.

The 36-year-old is recovering after the attack in the car on Monday park.   

A 38-year-old man who also faces charges of possession of a bladed article and criminal damage.

He was remanded in custody by Liverpool magistrates to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on 21 September.

Emergency crews were called to West Vale at about 02:00. 

The woman and children were taken to Aintree University Hospital for treatment after breathing in smoke.

Merseyside's local TV station, Bay TV, has gone into administration after suffering recent financial difficulties - but the owners said the station will survive.

Chief Executive Chris Johnson told the BBC he was hopeful that a deal to take the business out of administration would be signed today after struggling with advertising.

Bay TV was set up as part of the government's nationwide local TV initiative three years ago and is supported by money from the BBC licence fee.

Hillsborough appeal for Leppings Lane Gate C witnesses

Detectives leading a criminal investigation into the Hillsborough disaster have released CCTV images of 19 men they want to speak to.

Ninety-six fans were killed as a result of the crush at the football ground in Sheffield in April 1989.  

Police say all those identified are potential witnesses to the opening of exit gate C which led to the fateful crushing on the terraces.
