Panesar 'delighted' about joining Northamptonshire

The 33-year-old has been training at Wantage Road this winter while recovering from a shoulder injury.

He told me that he is "delighted" to be joining the club

Nico Rosberg is in a strong position after wins in both of the first two grands prix in Australia and Bahrain, thanks to Brackley-based Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton managing to convert both his pole positions into bad getaways that extinguished his victory hopes within seconds of the start of each race.

In many ways, from a neutral's point of view, Rosberg getting a jump on Hamilton at the start of the season is exactly what F1 needed.

Lewis Hamilton said he is "not worried" about his difficult start to the F1 season after his gifting victory to Nico Rosberg.

The triple world champion has begun badly in both races so far and trails Brackley-based Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg, by 17 points.

Hamilton said his starting problems were "not a big issue", adding: "It is something we'll fix for the next race."

The 33-year-old has secured private financial support as he seeks to get his career back on track, with his ultimate goal to play for England again.

Northampton lose to Wasps and slip to fifth in the table

The unions - who are holding a meeting of representatives from all the threatened Tata plants, including Corby - say they want Mr Cameron to take charge from the business secretary in securing a deal.

Hamilton dropped to seventh on lap one following a slow start and a clash with Valtteri Bottas' Williams at Turn One.

His Mercedes bodywork damaged, Hamilton recovered well but was unable to catch Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen in second.

Bridge between Billing and Cogenhoe closed for almost a month

Northamptonshire Highways says a full road closure will be in place while the work is carried out with a diversion in place, but businesses in the area will be open as usual.

New flood insurance scheme to cut bills by hundreds of pounds

A month after floods hit parts of Northamptonshire, including Yelvertoft (pictured), a new scheme has been launched to cut insurance bills for those whose homes are at risk of flooding.

Homeowners living in high flood-risk areas of the UK should now be able to save hundreds of pounds on their insurance premiums with the flood risk element of any insurance policy from today passed on to the reinsurer Flood Re.

The scheme has also been criticised by a group of MPs, who said it did not offer good value for money.

Yesterday, the government said it would offer financial support to help "clinch a buyer" for the business.
