Lisa Brookshaw
Family photo

The mother of a missing heavily pregnant woman is appealing to her daughter to let her know where she is.

35-year-old Lisa Brookshaw is expecting twins to be born in a few weeks time.

She had a doctor's appointment in Stroud yesterday but has not been seen since. She was carrying a suitcase and there are fears she was planning to leave the area.

Police say she has links to Cheltenham, Gloucester, Weston-super-Mare, Southampton and Northamptonshire and could have travelled to any of those areas

Her mother Jackie Blundon, who lives in Hampshire, says she's worried Lisa and her unborn babies could be at risk if she does not receive medical support.

I am really worried about Lisa and the babies, and appeal to her to at least let us know where she is and that she is getting the care and support she needs. Lisa, you have my number. Please contact me or the police and let us know where you are

Wadebridge sculptor creates statue of suffragette MP

BBC Radio Cornwall

A Cornish sculptor has created a statue of a prominent suffragette on the 100th anniversary of women first being given the right to vote in the UK.

Richard Austin from Wadebridge was commissioned by Northampton Borough Council to design a 7ft (2m) sculpture of Margaret Bondfield, a Labour MP for Northampton who became the first female cabinet member as well as co-founding the first trade union for women.

Mr Austin says it is a great way to mark such an important figure.

"Northampton Borough Council has been amazing," she said. "It's unprecedented in commissioning a sculptor to create seven life-size sculptures of important people from Northampton. She's the final one.

"It's fantastic that she's such an important lady from Northampton and especially in this year of 100 years of women getting the vote."

The sculpture joins six other famous Northampton figures commissioned by the council - Francis Crick, Lady Wantage, Edgar Mobbs, Walter Tull, John Clare and Malcolm Arnold.

Margaret Bondfield's statue will be unveiled at Northampton Guildhall on 20 March.

Labour says councils are 'chronically underfunded'

Urgent question

House of Commons

Parliament

Gwynne
HoC

Shadow housing secretary Andrew Gwynne claims the situation in Northamptonshire is a result of a "perfect storm of chronic underfunding and catastrophic Tory mismanagement", adding: "You just cannot push the cost of council services onto local taxpayers."

Rishi Sunak says "the secretary of state took action on Northamptonshire - it is exactly what responsible government looks like".

Urgent question

Hollobone
HoC

Mr Hollobone describes Northamptonshire County Council as "the worst-run local authority in the country" and its problems as having been "exacerbated by poor leadership".

He says he and fellow Northamptonshire MPs have no confidence in the council and "the sooner commissioners are sent in to sort out this mess the better".

The minister responds that the inspection now taking place is independent but his department is open to any representations from the council.

'It is for Northamptonshire to decide' how to manage its budget

Urgent question

Housing, Communities and Local Government Minister Rishi Sunak is answering an urgent question from Conservative Philip Hollobone, MP for Kettering, on Northamptonshire County Council.

The council has brought in a "section 114" notice, banning new expenditure.

Despite this, legal obligations have seen it issue a budget for 2018/19 to allow a council tax precept to be set.

Mr Sunak stresses the notice does not "automatically" mean services will stop and "it is for the council to decide" how it meets budgetary pressures.
