Weather: Scattered showers expected

Cloud increasing with some scattered showers tonight.

These will be less widespread than we’ve seen over the past few days but there is the chance of a few heavy downpours. 


Cloudy overnight with outbreaks of rain, mostly light and patchy. Lows of 11C (52F).

Harry died three days after initial hospital visit

Harry, who had autism, was admitted to hospital in 2014 and was diagnosed with gastroenteritis.

He was later taken home by his family after he became "agitated", which was against a doctor's recommendations, but as a compromise, it was arranged for Harry to come back the following morning when his condition was better.

However, three days later, Harry collapsed at home and was taken by ambulance to the QMC where he was pronounced dead.  

He had died of dehydration.

John Lewis closed 'until further notice'

We've had it confirmed from John Lewis they will stay closed this weekend and until further notice.

A statement from the store said: "Our teams are working around the clock to get the shop open as quickly as possible and we're sorry for the inconvenience this has caused to our customers."

We've had another video sent to us of flooded roads around Beeston.

This time from Elliott Richard Newlove, who captured cars ploughing through High Road in Beeston after the heavy rain at about 19:40 last night.

Father says compensation will be put towards son's memorial

Richard Clements (right), Harry's father, said the money was not important but some would be used to cover the expense of a memorial he had arranged for his son.

He said he felt the settlement was an admission of "liability" by the hospital and would be taking further action.

Mr Clements added his whole family was still "devastated" after Harry's death in 2014.

There will be some road closures and changes to the bus and tram services between the city centre and Beeston tomorrow morning for the Aviva Women's Tour.

Parents get compensation after toddler death

The parents of a four-year-old boy who died two days after being sent home from Nottingham's QMC have accepted a five figure compensation sum.

Harry Procko, who had autism, collapsed and died at home in St Ann's two years ago.

His family were highly critical of the care he received at the hospital and a coroner later ruled his death was NOT caused by hospital failings but the hospital did admit some shortcomings.   

Conmen posing as police officers take money from Eastwood man

People are being told to be on their guard after fraudsters posing as Metropolitan police officers conned an Eastwood man into withdrawing money from his account and giving it to fake courier "for safe keeping".

Still unclear when John Lewis will re-open

John Lewis in Nottingham's Victoria Centre remains closed after it was flooded on Tuesday night. 

Around 80,000 litres of hot water filled the store when a heating pip burst, and causing part of a ceiling to come down.

We've put a call into the store's head office to find out when it will reopen but as yet there has still been no confirmation.

Residents blame housing development for flooding

Residents in Rainworth who were flooded on Wednesday have blamed a nearby housing development for "causing extra runoff" and claim not enough has been done to tackle the issue.

Several other buildings - Hallward Library and some halls of residences on University Park campus were also affected yesterday.

Georgie Mason from Gonalston Farm near Lowdham says they are seeing a bad situation with flooding and their cattle aren't enjoying it much either.

"They are trying to keep dry but they don't like it [floodwater] any more than we do."

The fields which are on either side of the River Trent have flooded in the recent heavy rain and Ms Mason says the muddy grass has become "unpalatable" for the cows.

These cows at a farm near Lowdham certainly look a bit confused by all the water around them.

The farmer at Gonalston Farm says his 60 cattle which are spread over land on either side of the River Trent are struggling with the flood water.

Council apologises for Gotham mishap

Rushcliffe Borough Council says the out-of-hours floodline number is outsourced to a national company and so the calls were answered by someone not familiar with the area.

David Banks, executive manager for neighbourhoods, said they were investigating and working with the provider to ensure it didn't happen again.

From this picture it looks like Long Eaton has a new outdoor swimming pool. 

This is West Park Leisure Centre this morning with about 50% of the car park covered in water.

One of the employees told the BBC the sports centre had to be closed last night around 20:00 after water started coming through the roof. 

Residents told their addresses 'didn't exist'

Residents in Gotham got a surprise when they were told by the local council there was no record of their addresses.

People had called the emergency floodline number on Rushcliffe Borough Council's website after their homes were flooded on Wednesday night.

Thoughts on new Forest director of football

Our Forest correspondent Colin Fray has been talking about the appointment of Pedro Pereira as their new Director of Football.

He said: "He's a deal maker, an administrator. He's actually still very young, he's 35 now.

"Pereira spent 13 years at Braga. Successful years on the pitch but they did go through 17 managers. "I'm not suggesting Pereira was responsible for all of that but it wasn't perhaps the most stable time off the pitch."

The university said they had "started the clean up" on campus last night and would continue today.

Jane Phillips said there was a lot of "team spirit from shop owners working together" to protect their businesses as the water kept rising in Long Eaton last night.
