Forest: Changes to Championship schedule

Modern slavery 'increases four-fold'

You might remember an awful court case from December in which a man and a woman were jailed for forcing a trafficked woman to sleep in a "duck pen" on a housing estate in Nottingham.

Gavin Pascoe and Vicki Jepson (pictured) used beatings and threats to force the 24-year-old, who had learning difficulties, to cook and clean for them and look after their children.

Well now, the Salvation Army, which helps victims of modern slavery, says it has seen a four-fold increase in referrals since 2012.

Tennis: Facing Federer will be 'amazing experience'

Nottingham's Dan Evans will face Roger Federer in the third round at Wimbledon after beating Ukrainian 30th seed Alexandr Dolgopolov.

Nottingham man had one of most unusual cannabis farms

Cannabis farms might be illegal but you've got to hand it to some of the inventive locations where they've been discovered.

This BBC News feature mentions one in St Ann's which was discovered in a freight shipping container in a back garden.

He was arrested in 2011 and sentenced to three years in prison.

Galaxies in image up to 13 billion years old

Professor Omar Almaini from the University of Nottingham, used a telescope in Hawaii for over 1,000 hours to capture infrared images of deepest space.

"Were trying to understand how galaxies - the fundamental building blocks of the universe - form and evolve through time," he explained.

"We do that by basically looking back in time. When we see the most distant glalaxies, the really faintest things we can detect, we're looking back at galaxies at 10, 11, 12 even 13 billion years back in time."
