Chrs Whiteman, wrote: "Killjoys. It's a good Ad. Have a laugh."

Freds Hallsworth, said: "As a society we have lost our sense of humour."

Dentist said treating patients was 'an honour and privilege'

Parts of D'Mello's statement were read in private for confidentiality reasons, but it concluded: "I loved my job and found it an honour and privilege to treat my 22,000 patients, many of whom I cared for as friends.

"Several of my own family were my patients, out of which half of them were general medical practitioners."

He added that he was "no longer any risk to public health" and had twice applied for "voluntary erasure" from the GDC register.

We've never heard from Desmond D'Mello, despite several attempts to get a response from him about the allegations of malpractice.

He's not attended his GDC hearing so far but in a statement read out today he's said they were a "total shock" to him and the investigation by NHS England has been "callous and humiliating".

Dentist took 'short cuts' to see more patients

Yesterday the hearing was told Mr D'Mello, who ran the former Daybrook Dental Practice, saw 50 patients in one day in June 2014 when he was secretly filmed over three days.

The following day he saw 62 patients, and 60 the day after that.

General Dental Council (GDC) representative David Bradley said he was perhaps able to see so many people per day because of "short cuts" taken. 

Hearing told dentist prescribed antibiotics despite concerns

A hearing has been told that the suspended Nottinghamshrie dentist - Desmond D'Mello - prescribed antibiotics to a patient despite being concerned that they may be allergic to penicillin.

Mr D'Mello, who is not attending the hearing at the General Dental Council, is accused of 56 alleged hygiene failures, including not changing his gloves between appointments and replacing surgical masks for each patient.

The hearing is expected to last up to three weeks.

Workers finding people from all backgrounds sleeping rough

I've been out with the city's outreach team to an area where people are camping out by Nottingham railway station.

Many people they're finding have serious mental health problems, come to Nottingham from surrounding towns and cities or are foreign workers who've lost their jobs and can't get benefits.

People are sleeping in tents, shop doorways, even caves, and the numbers are soaring.

Framework's outreach team says around 33 people are sleeping rough in Nottingham on an average night, which is up from 14 last November. 

Chief executive, Andrew Redfern, described it as a crisis and says people are staying on the streets for longer because there's less support as councils across the country respond to spending cuts.

Posters are 'rude and offensive' say residents

Some people who spoke to BBC Radio Nottingham said the Fit4Less posters were rude and offensive, while others said it was cheeky.

Michelle Green, a tutor at the University of Nottingham who specialises in obesity and sexuality, said it could impact people who walk past it "and feel bad about themselves".

I’ve been speaking to Natalie Harvey from Nottinghamshire charity Combat Bullying about the latest Fit4Less advert.

She says she’s disgusted by the poster, which suggests being “fat & ugly” requires “a cure”.

She was bullied herself as a child for having a “ginger afro” and thinks the poster gives fuel for bullies to pick on children.

Rough sleeping in Nottingham rises sharply

The number of people sleeping rough in Nottingham has more than doubled since the end of last year.

Outreach teams have found 162 people on the streets in just three months which they say is the result of cuts to housing and treatment services.

Rail strike could be on the cards

A rail strike could be coming to Nottinghamshire.

Workers at Virgin East Coast have voted for industrial action in a dispute over jobs, safety and working conditions - although dates are yet to be announced.

Virgin East Coast operates services from Retford and Newark - to London, the north east and Scotland and insists there'd be no compulsory redundancies or impact on safety as a result of changes.

Victoria railway station remembered at exhibition

An exhibition of photographs of the old railway station described as "the most beautiful station there has ever been" are on show at the Nottingham Industrial Museum.

After that they'll go on display at the Victoria Centre and the Great Central Railway at Ruddington.

Football teams start League Cup campaign

Just a few days after the opening league games of the campaign, Nottinghamshire football turns its attention to the League Cup tonight.

Forest are at League Two Doncaster, with Chris Cohen, Michael Mancienne, Jamie Paterson and Jamie Ward available again after injury.

Notts are at League One Scunthorpe, while Mansfield host Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

"There's lots of people younger than me that wouldn't even know this used to be a railway station," she said.

Fears rail heritage could be lost

Next, rail enthusiasts are trying to save remaining parts of Nottingham's former Victoria railway station.

They fear Nottinghamshire's transport heritage will be lost if Intu is allowed to expand the Victoria Centre.

Molly, a bullmastiff, was found abandoned on a farm in Woodborough on Sunday.

John Charles-Jones, who found her, said she was chipped but the owners didn't want her back.

Notts don't know who their semi-final opponents are yet but the remaining quarter-finals take place tonight, tomorrow and Thursday so we should know in the coming days.
