Travel: Mansfield Road remains shut

Just a reminder, a part of Mansfield Road in Nottingham is shut between Forest Road East and Huntingdon Street. 

There is queuing traffic in the area and there are also delays on buses and trams because of the closure.

Dentist 'shocked' by charges

There's been no reaction from the dentist to today's news but during the hearing he said in a statement to the panel he said he was in "total shock" at the allegations, which he accused the NHS of handling in a "humiliating" manner.

D'Mello's dental nurse to be monitored

Caroline Surgey, one of Mr D’Mello’s co-workers who worked as a dental nurse at the same practice, was also part of the joint hearing. 

She admitted to all 27 of the allegations and will now be subject to conditional registration for 12 months, meaning she'll be able to continue working as a dental nurse but must accept various conditions and will be closely supervised.      

Dentist was secretly filmed

The allegations were made against the dentist when he was secretly filmed over three days at Daybrook Dental Care by a whistleblower.

This footage was shown to the panel during the hearing.

D'Mello did not attend hearing

Mr D'Melllo had not attended any of the week-long hearing and did not get legal representation but the committee panel for the GDC (General Dental Council) found 55 allegations against Mr D'Mello had been proven.

Charges against him included failing to change his surgical gloves and mask between patients and not washing hands.

Man on top of temple

Travel: Mansfield Road closed

Police have closed Mansfield Road in both directions between the Forest Road East and Huntingdon Street junctions for what's been described as "a serious incident".

It's causing severe delays in the area and to buses.

Connor has previously lived in Manchester and London and officers think it is possible he may have returned to one of those areas.

Nottinghamshire fire have tweeted there is a fire at an electrical substation in Sellers Wood Drive, Bulwell.

The service says there is a "large plume of smoke" in the area as a result and has advised residents to keep their windows and doors closed.

Ben Bird found out early this morning he had got his university place before he picked up his results from New College Nottingham.

The 19-year-old said he felt a lot of pressure and was surprised at how well he'd done.

He got an A in politics, B in film studies, B in English and B in media studies and is off to the University of Leeds to start a course in Middle Eastern studies.

Women stage pension protest

A group of women have been in Nottingham's Market Square this morning collecting signatures for their campaign over changes to the pension age.

The group says the delay in being allowed to draw the state pension for women who were born in the 1950s is unfair.

They say they were given just two years notice that they wouldn't be able to start receiving the benefit until they were 60.

Nottinghamshire bowler Harry Gurney has welcomed news that West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell is to rejoin the Outlaws for Twenty20 Finals Day.

Funeral for teenager killed in cycle crash

The funeral 14-year-old Jack Archer who died when he was knocked off his bike in Chapel Lane, Bingham takes place today.

The cortege will travel from near his home in Newton, through Radcliffe and towards Wilford for about 10:20.
