Man whose death sparked murder probe 'was stabbed'

Dave Wade

BBC Local Live

A man who died after being found injured in St Ann's last night was stabbed, the BBC understands.

Nottingham City Council leader Jon Collins has released a statement calling on the government to introduce a five-year mandatory sentence for possession of a knife, as is the case with guns.

"A clear mandatory prison sentence would send a clear message and I am sure would have a similar impact. We are working with the police and other partners to help catch the perpetrator and to more widely tackle knife crime, which so sadly ended in tragedy last night. My thoughts and sympathy go out to the family and friends who have lost a loved one in this senseless attack.
