'Overheating' homes warning by university

Gavin Bevis

BBC Local Live

Researchers from the University of Loughborough have warned there's a growing risk of modern homes becoming unhealthily warm during the summer months.

Experts involved in a new study say the problem is a result of climate change and newer, better insulated homes.

Professor Kevin Lomas, from the university, told the BBC: "UK homes are increasingly tending to overheat in the summertime.

"We definitely need to continue to insulate our homes to keep people warm and healthy in the winter but we also have to think about what we need to do in the summer - now that our climate is warming - to make sure people are protected from ill health."

Your comments: Price rise for Wollaton Hall car park

Facebook

Many of you have got in touch on Facebook to share thoughts on the 50% price hike for parking at Wollaton Hall.

Sarah Ramowski said: "I think you should be able to park for free for an hour and after 6pm. If you would like to regularly walk your dog or bring the children to the play area then £3 every time is a lot to pay. I think if you intend to visit the park for the day then the charges are fair."

BBC

Neil Asher posted: "If i'm gonna spend all day walking round the park then spending an extra couple of minutes parking outside it ain't going to be a problem to me. Many people already do this to avoid the (lower) parking charges at the excellent Bradgate Park in Newton Linford, Leics."

Ray Bradshaw said: "Seems good value to me for what you get."

Roger Bailey said: "That's another one crossed of my days out list."
