Jail for fan who threw flare at Oxford United match

A football fan from Luton has been jailed for possessing a flare and throwing a missile at a match at Oxford United's Kassam Stadium last season.

Luton fan Ewin Freeman, 22, was jailed for a year and 44 days and given a seven-year football banning order at Oxford Crown Court on 21 July.

Fortunately the penny seems to have dropped that we will not tolerate flares and smoke bombs, home or away. These things can cause horrific burns and injuries and can scar for life, and we ask all Oxford fans to help us spread the word and make sure they don't appear at our matches.
