Rovers have been working to try to get the fixture on, but snow continues to sit on the pitch at the Keepmoat Stadium and surrounding routes are also still covered in snow and ice.

Referee Richard Wigglesworth carried out a pitch inspection just before 14:00 and deemed the pitch playable.

But after discussions with the safety advisory group, South Yorkshire Police and the EFL the game has been postponed.

A re-arranged date and kick-off time will be announced in due course.

We simply couldn't guarantee the safety of everyone attending. There is further adverse weather forecast overnight and on Saturday morning and we were only left with one option."
