'They fell asleep'

Stoke City 1-2 Chelsea

Chris Waddle

Ex-England winger, BBC Radio 5 live

You've got to say Stoke have defended so well today but as that corner came in they fell asleep.

It's a slight deflection - you have got to feel sorry for Stoke.

They go mad in the dugout!

Stoke City 1-1 Chelsea

Chris Waddle

Ex-England winger, BBC Radio 5 live

Stoke are well organised, well drilled and one or two players look very comfortable in possession but, after the third or fourth pass, it seems to break down too easily.

I'm surprised Mark Hughes hasn't put a couple of subs on to freshen it up.

'Stoke need to work on set-pieces'

Stoke City 1-1 Chelsea

Chris Waddle

Ex-England winger, BBC Radio 5 live

Mark Hughes and his team need to work on set pieces.

How many times do we see their corners and free kicks either hit the first man or go all the way over the last one?!

'Luiz has looked brilliant'

Stoke City 1-1 Chelsea

Chris Waddle

Ex-England winger, BBC Radio 5 live

It's been all Chelsea this half. They are dominating.

David Luiz has looked brilliant today and there has not been any pressure on them since the whistle.

'Stoke are now falling off the pace'

Stoke City 1-1 Chelsea

Chris Waddle

Ex-England winger, BBC Radio 5 live

More football being played this half and it's Chelsea who are popping it around a lot more.

They are in control and Stoke are now falling off the pace. Not a lot happening here.

Football, please

Stoke City 1-1 Chelsea

Chris Waddle

Ex-England winger, BBC Radio 5 live

Good start by Stoke this half already.

I just hope both teams concentrate on the game rather than trying to get each other booked.

I just want to see a good half of football now.

Scottundefined Costa’s technical ability as a player is great, but his attitude and behaviour on the pitch is staggeringly awful.

David Simpson: If I were a Chelsea fan, I'd say to him what I tell my U9 team. "Stay on your feet, you can't help us on the floor!"

Jon Connor: Stoke's game plan - Kick Chelsea off the park it seems!

'The manager needs to have a word'

Stoke City 1-1 Chelsea

Chris Waddle

Ex-England winger, BBC Radio 5 live

We are coming up now to half-time and the manager has got to have a word with Costa because he is going to be a shown another yellow soon...

It's a great atmosphere here - the Stoke fans are truly pumped up!

Everything is revolving around Diego Costa today. He is very much the pantomime villain.

'Stoke are second best'

Stoke City 0-1 Chelsea

Chris Waddle

Ex-England winger, BBC Radio 5 live

You've got to say Stoke are second best in all areas of the park and they really have been giving the ball away so cheaply, but Chelsea are full of confidence and can look after it when it's theirs.

Having said that, Diego Costa is going to get himself a red card if he keeps going this way.

'He needs to concentrate on his football'

Stoke City 0-1 Chelsea

Chris Waddle

Ex-England winger, BBC Radio 5 live

I've just seen a replay of that dive from Diego Costa and it is absolutely ridiculous - it warranted that yellow card on its own.

He is trying to unsettle anyone in a red and white shirt but he has to concentrate on his football because at the moment he is not helping his team-mates.

Ian Paterson case: Breast cut 27 times for no reason, court hears

Ian Paterson cut into a patient's breast 27 times to take biopsies in an operation which, prosecutors allege, was entirely unjustified, a jury has heard.

Giving evidence at Nottingham Crown Court, Frances Perks of Burntwood, Staffordshire said after that particular operation the surgeon recommended a double mastectomy as her breast was "becoming unstable".

She went on to have a single mastectomy under Mr Paterson, which resulted in complications and further surgery by a different team.

Trinity Mirror

Mr Paterson, 58, of Altrincham, Greater Manchester, is expected to claim none of the operations were unnecessary when his defence begins next week.

He denies 20 counts of wounding with intent, relating to procedures carried out between 1997 and 2011.

He was formerly employed by Heart of England NHS Trust and practised at Spire Healthcare.

Ian Paterson case: Court hears woman 'conned' into breast surgery

A woman who said she underwent "horrendous" and "painful" surgery claims she was "conned" into an unnecessary mastectomy in order to avoid "full-blown breast cancer" a court has heard.

Ian Paterson
TRINITY MIRROR

Frances Perks from Staffordshire described how breast surgeon Ian Paterson played heavily on her family history, urging her to have the procedure as she was in a "high-risk category".

Ms Perks told jurors she was tested by a genetics lab after her operation.

"As it turned out I am no higher risk than anybody else walking the streets," she said.

Ian Paterson, 58, denies 20 counts of wounding with intent.

Protest planned after toppling lorry prompts bin collection stoppages

John Acres

Journalist, BBC Radio Stoke

A pensioner says he's planning a protest after his local council said it would not longer collect bins and recycling boxes from some private roads.

Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council says it's after one of its bin lorries recently almost overturned.

Anger over bin collection stoppages

The authority says the state of some private roads are just too poor for its lorries to safely use and it has plans in place to help affected residents.

But Philip Sykes, 77, from Loggerheads, says he has a hernia and the change will mean moving his bins a long distance.

Having to take the wheelie bin down to the end of the road, 140 yards, is just unacceptable. Another one of my neighbours, we're all in the same boat, he's registered blind and his wife certainly can't do it."
