If you're planning to use the A27 between Shoreham and Bexhill this weekend, you may find yourself a little delayed.

A giant electricity transformer, 60m long, 5.5m wide and weighing 260 tonnes, is being transported between those locations on Saturday, with full and rolling road closures throughout the day.

The trailer is due to leave Shoreham Port at 05:00 BST, and should arrive at Ninfield substation in Potmans Lane by 15:00 BST.

Wanted: Have you seen Mark Coleman?

Police are trying to find a Bexhill man, who's wanted for recall to prison.

Mark Coleman, who's 23, was released early from a four-year term for attempted robbery.

He's failed to attend appointments with his supervising officer since his release in August last year.

Children taught to 'speak out and stay safe'

More than 90,000 primary school children, some as young as four, have been shown how to spot the signs of abuse during assemblies held by the NSPCC in Kent and Sussex.

It comes as reports of child sexual abuse to police forces continue to rise.

Specially trained staff and volunteers have taught the 'Speak Out Stay Safe' programme in more than 300 schools across the region - helping children understand abuse in all its forms and the dangers of using social media.

Beach litter clean launched

Visitors to one of the South East's most popular beaches are being urged to do their part to keep it clean.

Over last month's bank holiday weekend, 42 tonnes of rubbish was collected from Brighton beach and the seafront bins.

A council team has joined a special campaign which encourages visitors to spend two minutes picking up litter before heading home.

Armed officers deployed at Sussex festival

Armed police officers are being deployed to this weekend's Wildlife music festival at Shoreham airport in the wake of the recent terror attacks.

More than 20,000 people are expected on each of the two days, 9 and 10 June.

They're being asked to avoid bringing bags to the event to help speed up access.

Pensioner on mobility scooter injured

A 94-year-old man's been seriously injured after his mobility scooter collided with a car near Chichester.

It happened on the A259 at Chidham, at 19:10 BST last night.

The injured man is from Bosham and was taken to St Richard's Hospital in Chichester.

The 70-year-old man from Emsworth driving the other vehicle, a red Ford Fiesta, was unhurt.

Road safety campaign launched

A task force has been launched by Sussex Police to improve safety and reduce the number of road deaths.

Officers from the force will lead Operation Crackdown's strike team - checking motorists for drink and drug driving.

Last year 55 people were killed in collisions on the county's roads.
