Irish police have confirmed that a man in his mid 40s has died following a crash between a van and a truck on the M1 southbound near Monasterboice in County Louth. The road remains closed.

Police investigate parked car near Ballycastle crash

Police are appealing for information about a vehicle parked on the Carickmore Road from Monday morning until Monday evening as part of an investigation into a fatal road accident near Ballycastle, County Antrim.

Johnny Black, 19, from Ballycastle and Robin William Lamont Wilson, 26, from Armoy,

died after a head on collision between two cars on the Cushendall Road near Ballycastle.

in the FIFA world rankings to 42nd. The Republic of Ireland climbed four places to 62nd.

Man charged with drugs offences:


A 24 year-old man has been charged with 10 drug offences including possession of a class B controlled drug with intent to supply, possession of a class C controlled drug with intent to supply and converting criminal property.

He is due to appear at Armagh Magistrates Court on Friday in connection with the seizure of drugs with an estimated value of £20,000 and two suspected firearms following searches in Warrenpoint, County Down.

A County Fermanagh school has opened its classrooms to parents as part of a programme to support families. A dozen families have completed the Families and Schools Together (FAST) project at St Comhghall's in Lisnaskea.


The school is in an area with high levels of rural deprivation and 43% of its pupils receive free school meals so it gets extra funding to help pupils to achieve their best. It is the first secondary school in the UK to offer the FAST programme.

Man accused of kidnapping partner

A Belfast man accused of kidnapping his partner allegedly drove at an off-duty police officer who tried to help her, a court heard today.

Matthew Gillard, 25, from Connsbrook Avenue, was charged with kidnapping his partner, false imprisonment, assaulting a police officer and driving dangerously.
