Bataclan to reopen in November

Le Bataclan

Le Bataclan, the Paris concert hall where 89 people were killed in a terror attack on November 2015, will re-open later this year.

Former Libertines frontman Pete Doherty and the Senegalese star Youssou N'Dour and his Super Etoile de Dakar band will play at the venue on November 16 and 18 respectively.

Managers of the concert hall have tweeted an official statement in French:

Bono: "Send comedians to fight IS"

U2 singer Bono has told US senators about his plan to send comedians to fight terrorism with jokes.

Speaking in front of a Senate subcommittee on Tuesday, he said: "It's like, you speak violence, you speak their language. But you laugh at them when they are goose-stepping down the street and it takes away their power. So I am suggesting that the Senate send in Amy Schumer and Chris Rock and Sacha Baron Cohen, thank you.''

He had to reassure senators that he was serious about his plan to defeat violent extremists.

To be fair, he was discussing terrorism, international aid and the migrant crisis during his appearance in Capitol Hill.

Reactions vary to Bono's suggestion...

"Which is better: ISIS or the West? There's only one way to find out...." #Bono

"Which is better: ISIS or the West? There's only one way to find out...." #Bono

imagine if the government was like "you know what bono you're right" and sent amy schumer chris rock and sacha baron cohen to fight isis

Someone should tell Bono that the problem with comedians in the Middle East is not ISIS but dictators, many backed by West, that jail them.

#parkrun tweeters told council to jog on

Stoke Gifford Parish Council, near Bristol, UK, voted to become the first in the world to charge Parkrun a fee for the use of its grounds.

Many people take part in two free, timed runs in Little Stoke Park on Saturdays.

The parish council said it was unfair to expect non-running residents to pay for park upkeep.

The council's decision was met with disappointment. Many people, including British Olympians Dame Kelly Holmes and Paula Radcliffe, tweeted to criticise the decision to charge runners.

Have I missed the whole reason park runs exist & are free? StokeGiffordParishCouncil decision is a disgrace .com 👎🏽…

Am totally against this short sighted decision. I fully support the right for this event for children to be free…

Park runs = health, fun ,community spirit , so let's charge to put an end to it. Genius. #parkrun

Ridiculous! Council should be asking how they can support the successful #parkrun not demand funds! #disgraceful…
