- 4 November 2012
- From the section Magazine
Witness to many new occupants of the Oval Office, Alistair Cooke observed presidential elections every four years with a careful eye.
Here - in the last of five slideshows featuring highlights from his Letter from America collection - he explains why US politics is not boring. He also examines the Thatcher-Reagan relationship of the 1980s, and Bill Clinton's wardrobe choice a few years later.
The BBC has published over 900 episodes of Alistair Cooke's Letter from America which were originally broadcast between 1946 and 2004.
