New award 'looks to show importance of mathematics'

The Breakthrough Prize Foundation has announced the first five winners of its mathematics award, who will each receive $3 million.

Entrepreneur Yuri Milner, who co-founded the award, and author Rob Eastaway explain how they hope the prize will highlight the importance of mathematics in the modern world.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Monday 23 June.
