CES 2014: Trying out a Segway alternative

Over the past few years, the Segway has gained some traction as an innovative self-balancing electric "personal transporter".

But at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Chinese firm InMotion showed off its collapsible, less rugged alternative. Weighing only 12kg (26.5lb), it features everything from voice alerts to a radar warning system.

The BBC's North America technology correspondent Richard Taylor took the InMotion SCV R1EX for a spin and caught up with its inventor.
