Four men and a woman have appeared in court charged with "conspiring to steal from another" after van thefts and a burglary, Derbyshire Police said.

The force said the charges relate to thefts from vans in Alvaston, Chaddesden and Barnsley and a burglary at an industrial unit in Wirksworth, which are alleged to have occurred in a two-week spell between September 29 and October 13.

One man was remanded in custody, three men were released under conditional bail and the woman was released on unconditional bail following their appearance at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on 14 October.
