Woman stabbed in Larne shop robbery bid

A woman has been stabbed during an attempted armed robbery at a shop in Larne, County Antrim.

A man entered the shop at St John's Place at about 17:50 GMT on Sunday, armed with a knife.

He demanded money before stabbing a female member of staff. She was taken to hospital but her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The attacker is described as being slim, wearing a red hooded top, jeans and white trainers.

He escaped in the direction of Ronald Street empty-handed.

The police are appealing for information.
