Police chief Dal Babu criticises low ethnic recruitment

Help

One of Britain's most senior ethnic minority policemen says more needs to be done to increase the recruitment of black and Asian officers.

Chief Superintendent Dal Babu of the Metropolitan Police praised the role female officers have played in the force helping to deal better with cases of domestic abuse and rape, adding that having more black and Asian officers would better prepare them for cases in those communities.

On the day of his retirement, 30 years after first joining, Mr Babu told BBC Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire that the service needs to make changes.
