A former choirmaster at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester has been jailed for six years for indecently assaulting an ex-pupil from the age of 14.

Michael Brewer, 68, from Birmingham was convicted of sexually abusing Frances Andrade between 1978 and 1982.

Brewer's ex-wife Hilary, 68, was also sentenced to 21 months for her part in the assault.

Manchester Crown Court heard that Ms Andrade took her own life after giving evidence against him, as Ed Thomas reports.
