Will EU migrants strain UK services?
Fears that an influx of Romanians and Bulgarians to Britain will put a strain on public services have been downplayed in an independent report, published by the Foreign Office.
But the number that may arrive on UK shores after immigration restrictions are lifted in 2014 remains unpredictable, according to the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR).
Heather Rolfe, principal research fellow at NIESR, suggested that the scale of migration to the UK would be "modest" because other counties in the EU would also be lifting boarder restrictions.
But Alp Mehmet, vice chairman of Migration Watch UK, told the Today programme's Sarah Montague that the NIESR research was "a cop-out" as there was "no figure put on it".
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Friday 5 April 2013.
