The Queen visits the Duke of Edinburgh in hospital

Help

The Queen has visited the Duke of Edinburgh in hospital, where he is recovering following an exploratory operation on his abdomen.

Prince Philip is said to be "comfortable and in good spirits," Buckingham Palace has said.

It said he was "progressing according to plans at this early stage" but will rest for two months after his hospital stay.

The Queen arrived to see Prince Philip on his 92nd birthday, after Prince Edward's earlier visit.

Daniela Relph reports.
