Nicola Hughes father 'thankful' for Cregan sentence

Help

The father of Nicola Hughes has said he is "thankful" that her killer Dale Cregan will spend the rest of his life in jail.

He admitted murdering the 23-year-old police officer and her colleague Fiona Bone in a gun attack in Greater Manchester last September - as well as killing father and son David and Mark Short.

Bryn Hughes said that he was grateful that Cregan would "never experience freedom again".

He added: "Our lives will never be the same again following the loss of Nicola and today sees another part of this nightmare draw to a close."
